Grim Dawn Kickstarter Has Less Than Two Days Left

Grim Dawn is already funded on Kickstarter. The open-world action RPG is going to be finished. That’s cool. But, if you feel the need, giving Crate Entertainment more money will result in an even more fully-featured game. Not convinced it needs it? Check out our hands-on preview of Grim Dawn and make your decision. I think you’ll make the right choice. Just make it quick, there are less than two days left to donate.

As of this writing, the Kickstarter has just broken $430,000 pledged. That means donors have already unlocked the ability to wield dual pistols, a new endgame boss, three extra dungeons, and a whole new environment to be decided on by fans on the Grim Dawn forums. Assuming the community hits certain other marks, we could get two-handed melee weapons ($450,000), another endgame boss ($465,000), and a brand new town, complete with a new faction and the quests that come along with it ($480,000).

Black Ops 2 vs. Ghost Recon – Comparing two visions of the future

World War II has been done to death and by now, there’s been about a billion shooters set in the modern era. So what is next for the future of shooter games? Well, it looks like… the future. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 has made the jump to a time beyond the history books to the year 2025, and the upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is also set in the “near” future. We’re guessing somewhere around the same period. So, now that there is more than one franchise exploring the near-future setting, we thought it might be interesting to compare these two fictional worlds.

Best co-op games

It’s good to play together

Games can be plenty of fun alone, but there’s something to be said about a good cooperative experience. Fighting side-by-side with a buddy can make a bad game good, a good game great, and a great game unforgettable.

Co-op games have become more and more popular over the past few years as online multiplayer has grown, leading to even crazier co-op experiences to join those of the earlier generations. We’ve put together a list of the best games to play cooperatively with friends, giving you some less-competitive multiplayer options

Call of Duty lawsuit between Activision and EA settled, West and Zampalla case heats up

We’re not sure how much you’ve been keeping up with it to date, but there was a big update today in the legal battle over Call of Duty. After some back and forth between industry giants Activision and EA for more than a year, the two settled their legal dispute today. However, the bigger case between Activision and the former Infinity Ward bosses continues.

Here’s some quick background: In 2010 Jason West and Vince Zampella, the heads of CoD dev Infinity Ward, left the company and parted with Activision on unfriendly terms to put it lightly. After the two were fired, they soon began a new studio (Respawn) that then made a publishing deal with EA. West and Zampella sued Activision for unfair dismissal, then Activision countersued EA, alleging that EA tried to hire West and Zampella while still under contract with Activision.

The details of today’s conclusion of the countersuit are a mystery and will probably remain so, as that’s how these things normally play out. “Activision and EA have agreed to put this matter behind them,” was the only statement released by both sides. Meanwhile, the West and Zampella case continues, with new details hitting the web today alleging that Activision’s attempts to dig up dirt on their former employees. You’ll find more info on that

Max Payne 3

Rockstar knows how to do sleaze, that’s for sure. From the Latino sex clubs of GTA III: Vice City to the rickety saloon bars and whore houses of Red Dead Redemption, this company has always reveled in the sights, smells and pleasures of the low life. And with Max Payne 3, the third part in a downbeat shooter franchise adopted from Finnish developer Remedy, it has crafted a masterpiece of underworld carnality, depravity and violence.

Nvidia Announces Cloud Gaming Tech

Cloud gaming is a great idea in concept. Being able to stream games to any device and play, regardless of the hardware you own is an immensely attractive and frugal idea. But the only real retailer in the field is OnLive, and their service, while pretty solid, can feel clunky and laggy. Now, Nvidia is hoping to take the next step by introducing GeForce GRID, its own game streaming service.

There’s a bunch of science behind why Nvidia’s product will supposedly be a heck of a lot better than what’s out there now, but all you really need to know is that the GeForce GRID ideally will have games streaming at 60 FPS with minimal lag. According to Nvidia’s GeForce GRID breakdown, the latency will be comparable to that felt when playing console games, which, in the grand scheme of things, ain’t so bad. Plus, you can play games on just about anything with a screen, from computers to TVs to your Android phone. Pretty cool.
